Bulloch Hall Quilt Show Ends Today

The Quilt Show at Bulloch Hall ends today at 4:00 p.m.

You can purchase a CD of the quilts.  I took a few snapshots while I was there.

I love this string quilt.  The colors are soft and muted.

I was just loving the punch of purple in this beautiful quilt.

My quilt is draped at the foot of the bed in the "Mittie" room.

The attendant said they had it draped better earlier in the day, but some folks were asking questions about the fabric and had wanted to see the back, so it got un-draped.  Here is a better picture taken in Mom's backyard (double click if you want to see it closer):

But it GOES with my QUILT!

I rarely get a chance to go to the mall.  You know, that dollar-sucking asphalt adornment called Mall of Georgia?  Well, today I had to run an errand to Dick's to return that way-too-expensive-tennis-dress-I-will-never-wear. So I started at Dillards 'cause I could maybe find a decent pair of shoes while I was at the mall, when all of sudden I spied this perfume at 70% off! AND it goes with my quilt!

That was the end of my quick errand.  

I decided I needed some cheerful spring items.

I now consider myself updated for spring.  I still need shoes though, oh, and that tennis dress?  Maybe I will wear it when I play (greased up with sunscreen) on Sunday.

 I forgot to mention, the other reason (besides the tennis dress) that I was near the mall.  My car failed its emission test, so I had to take said car in for repair.  Something called "third cylinder misfire."  At least I can smile about my cute purse when I am pulling my credit card out to pay the dealership for fixing whatever is wrong that they didn't catch when they did the 60,000 mile check up last month. 

(And there went the tax refund.)

I am staying home tomorrow (except for collecting the car).  I save money that way.

Vintage Nine Progress

Slow but steady gets a quilt done. This Vintage Nine (pattern by Lisa Bongean) is one of those easy yet difficult quilts. Yes, I had measure/square issues with the first vine border, and now I am a little wavy-gravy. My fancy not-yet-paid-off Bernina decided to get cranky, so I have to take her in for a tonic. I got out the old machine and have fallen in love with it. I hadn't quite bonded with Ms. Bernina. I cannot free-motion with the New Home though, so I will be looking forward to Ms. Bernina's return. It's okay though. Tomorrow I have a tennis match (my second), a new quarter begins Monday at school, and there is plenty of handwork to stitch in the evenings. I don't need a machine at all for a while.
Kitten was hiding in a J Jill bag on the floor behind my sewing chair. She is so darn cute. She always finds a little niche to sleep in. I am getting worried about using flash photography on her. After all, she only has one eye, and what if it gets damaged from flashes? Is that even possible?
I wanted to show off the back side of "Lilly." Really, I love this quilt. The Lilly Pulitzer fabric was donated to the Spirited Quilters in Duluth, so I took some; I already had the backing (from a sale table at JoAnn's); the quilt was completed in 5 weeks and I was working full time, too. It was the first time I had ever machine quilted anything. Right now I can't even imagine completing something in 5 weeks.

Online Quilt Festival

Here is my entry into Park City Girl's Online Quilt Festival. I have already looked at other entries, so I know my picture is not that great, but what the heck? I want to play, too. Here is the quilt's story: I had just joined the "Spirited Quilter's" in Duluth, GA, and a member had donated a bunch of Lilly Pulitzer fabric sample squares to the group. The squares were free, so I picked up a bunch of floral squares. They were so pretty that I just had to do something with them. Five weeks later I had a quilt. It was not easy though. I was not very experienced with a rotary cutter, and each square had to be re-squared. I had only machine pieced one other quilt, but I had not machine quilted it yet, so this was the first quilt I machine quilted. Straight lines only, of course! I had previously purchased a wild border print fabric from a clearance table at JoAnn's and I had just enough to cover the back of my "Around the World with Lilly Pulitzer" quilt. I hope you like it! It is still my favorite completed project.
