Happy New Year

Joey and I spent New Year's Day watching parades and football while stitching.

I fall in and out of love with quilts as I work on them. For this one I hated when I realized I had to un-stitch 5 blocks becaused I'd sewn them backward. Then loved it when I got all 42 blocks stacked up in a neat pile (under Joe above).
I laid it out on the floor and didn't like it again. The pattern eludes me, so I question the cavalier, random way I put the fabrics together. Should I have had a more controlled plan? I want to make quilts for my sons, and I want to use up the fabric I have, so that makes it mission accomplished.
I think the red border will make me like it again.
I moved the ironing board into the living room so I could iron as I sewed and watch TV. Joe loves it because he can see out the window, plus it is probably warm from me having recently ironed on it.
My vacation is over; back to work in the morning. I welcome getting back to a routine, but I will miss Joseph; he is my constant companion here at home.

Best wishes for all of us for a Happy 2013.

  5. Happy New Year! I should be headed back to work after a day off but a stomach virus has me up at 5 am instead. Not a favorable omen to the new year I fear. Hope your year is spectacular.

  8. Happy New Year! And I like the quilt. I do the same thing. I get roaring tired of a quilt when I'm working on it. So I do something else for a bit. Usually when I get back to it, I like it again.
